Athens has got the normal freaky things one would expect in a college town, but there's a building on Broad, just east of the Milledge intersection, that used to home of some serious weirdness.

This was the Athens temple of the United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors. Note the Egyptian-inspired fascade on the building, authentic except for one detail. Can you spot it? Here's a close-up that may help:

You should have spotted it by now. Yes, all the figures are black. That's because the Egyptians were black people, according to this group. What's more, black people are really gods from outer space. (Who, by the way, bred the white folk to serve as their slave warriors, but then Whitey got a bit uppity and the world ended up the way it is now. Darn Whitey.)

This is actually a pretty standard depiction of the Egyptian gods Anubis (the jackal-headed fellow) and Osiris (the green fellow). Apparently the UNNoM teaches that the alien black people used to be green, then turned brown because of their exposure to Earth's atmosphere. So I guess they figure they used to look like Osiris. Actually Osiris is green because he's DEAD. This particular scene is common in Egyptian iconography, and shows Osiris as judge of the dead (Anubis is the god who oversaw funereal practices, thus his presence.).

And why is this temple boarded up? 'Cause its leader is in the Big House. Malachi Z. York was sentenced to 153 years for child molestation. This billboard tells you everything you need to know about how the UNNoM is taking this "persecution."
