Zoolander's Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good

Well, not exactly... But this is a link to quotes from and commentary on a New York Times article about the physiological differences between male and female brains and the impact those differences may have in teaching children to read. The main gist of it: boys are biologically predisposed towards exciting, action-oriented stories, while girls are disposed towards stories about relationships and emotional struggles; therefore, boys tend to fall behind in reading because all they're given to read in school are girl-type stories. We're boring them, turning them off to reading, often for good. Sounds credible to me...

"Boring the boys to death"
