Florida Part 2: In which I go to the Alligator Farm, continued.

And now, the rest of the story... Or the rest of the critters. Or the rest of the pictures of the critters. Anyway, here's a selection of the non-reptile inhabitants of the Alligator Farm.

This spider monkey is, according to the sign on the cage, one of the oldest in captivity: 30+ years, as I recall. The years weigh heavy on this monkey. So, Neo, you have a choice: do you take the red macaw...Or the blue macaw?Or both, maybe? In the Rookery, there are scads of long-legged, long-necked wader type birds: storks, cranes, herons, egrets, and the rest of that tribe. Don't ask me which these are, 'cause I ain't Roger Tory Peterson! This last is a Marabou Stork. Easily one of the ugliest birds on the planet, I think. Its head is bald because it's a scavenger: when you get your food by sticking your head into a rotting water buffalo carcass, your feathers tend to get a bit funky, so this stork ditched 'em.
